DATES FOR THE SEVILLE FAIR 2022
We now have the dates for the Seville Fair 2022.
In 2020, the fair was suspended due to the health situation caused by COVID-19, resulting in economic losses of around 800 million euros. In 2021, despite the vaccines, the fair was affected by the pandemic. There were no horse parades or visits to the casetas. Instead, an “aerial celebration” took place with balloons floating in the city’s sky in pairs, emulating the dance of Sevillanas. Some attractions were set up in the “Calle del Infierno” (Hell’s Street).
But finally, we have the dates for the Seville Fair 2022.
Next year’s fair will take place between Saturday, April 30th and Saturday, May 7th, technically starting on May 1st when the lighting ceremony takes place at midnight. It remains to be seen if, as in previous years, the official start will be moved one hour earlier to 11 pm, so that the party formally begins in the month that gives it its name. However, the priority is to ensure that there are two weeks between Holy Week and the Fair, allowing the municipal services a margin of maneuver. This criterion was included in the regulations, and it was supported by the fact that in 2019, the fair took place between May 4th and 11th.
The April Fair 2022: Limited capacity in casetas and one-way streets
The City Council of Seville plans to base the fair on the Christmas Plan, with separated traffic flows, reduced capacity, and hand sanitizer dispensers.
